The theme of the festival is 'On the run'.

Between 2014 and 2018, the First World War is commemorated everywhere in Europe and especially in West-Flanders, where the forces on both sides of the frontline faced immense losses on the front line between 1914 and 1918. Thousands of people fled the war, but today too, people are "On The Run" looking for a better life.

They fled from something: too poor, too hungry…war, recession. Who knows what reason causes someone to leave, to grab everything they have and say goodbye to friends, family and loved ones.
